Warden: Jason Ellis

Jason Ellis Jason Ellis was named warden of Citrus County Detention Facility in September 2006. He previously served as assistant warden at Wilkinson County Correctional Facility. Ellis joined CCA in 1993 as correctional officer at Metro-Davidson County Detention Facility. He also served as assistant shift commander, shift commander, chief of security and assistant warden. Ellis holds a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Middle Tennessee State University.

Citrus County is located in central Florida and lies on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. It is approximately 70 miles north of Tampa and 60 miles northwest of Orlando. The county has a population of 138,000 people, 90% of which live in small rural towns and villages. Crystal River and Inverness are the two major incorporated cities, the latter of which is also the seat of county government. The county offers a vast array of employment opportunities, ranging from utilities to retail sales. Progress Energy is the largest private employer, with over 1,200 employees. Citrus Memorial Hospital and Seven Rivers Hospital represent the health care industry, which are the second and third largest private employers.

Wednesday - Special Housed Inmates 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. High Risk 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Segregation 1:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.

Thursday - Felons 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Misdemeanors 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Females 1:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.

Federal Inmate Visitation: Sunday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. thru monitor. No visits on Friday and Saturday.

Reservations for visitation MUST be made AT LEAST 24 hours in advance. Anyone who wishes to visit MUST call Sunday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Visitation Rules:

  1. Each visitor must be present in the front lobby of the CCA Citrus County Detention Facility 30 minutes prior to visiting time on Inmate Visitation Schedule.
  2. Each visitor will be required to show picture identification prior to being admitted to visit. All visitors must be 18 years of age, or accompanied by parent/legal guardian with birth certificate.
  3. Each inmate is allowed 2 adult visitors at a time in the Visitation Area. Children must be accompanied by an adult and be supervised at all times.
  4. Inmates are only authorized one visit per week for two hours duration.
  5. Dress code for visitors is as follows: A. Male visitors will be in proper attire. No short shorts, bathing suits, or tank tops will be permitted for visits. B. Females will be attired in clothing of a suitable nature. No bathing suits, halter tops, tank tops, short shorts, or short skirts, will be permitted for visits. Females must wear bras. No purses or any personal belongings will be permitted in the visitation room.
  6. Visitors are subject to search upon entering the facility. Any visitor attempting to bring contraband into the facility will be subject to arrest.
  7. No behavioral problems will be tolerated. If such problems occur, the visitor will be asked to leave the facility.
  8. Once you leave the facility, you may not re-enter the Visitation Area.
  9. If you have been detained in this facility within the last year, you must have prior approval from the chief of security or above in order to visit.
  10. Any visitor not on the visitation list will not visit.
  11. Anyone being disruptive in visitation will be asked to leave.
