CCA Named One of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens in the U.S.
NASHVILLE, TENN. – Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) has been ranked 66th on Corporate Responsibility Officer (CRO) magazine’s 2008 list of the nation’s 100 best corporate citizens.
CCA, the only company based in Nashville to be included on the 2008 list, is the nation’s largest owner and operator of privatized correctional and detention facilities and one of the largest prison operators in the United States operating correctional facilities in 19 states and the District of Columbia.
CRO’s 100 best corporate citizens list was created based on data collected from the Russell 1000 Index and IW Financial, a leading environmental, social and governance research company. Companies were compared based on corporate responsibility efforts in eight categories – climate change, employee relations, environment, financial, governance, human rights, lobbying and philanthropy.
“CCA has always been an active member of the communities we serve. This award acknowledges the strides we’ve made in that effort over our company’s 25-year history, and we are proud to be recognized by CRO,” said John Ferguson, CCA president and CEO. “We will continue to make positive contributions to our communities and leave an even greater legacy as a corporate citizen as we continue to grow.”
Other companies on CRO’s 100 Best Corporate Citizens 2008 list include The Walt Disney Company, Gap, IBM, Target Corporation, Cisco Systems and Starbucks Corporation. For a full list, please visit www.thecro.com.
